Partnership opportunity

Staff accountant

dmd Chartered Professional Accountants is a public accounting firm in Powell River, BC. Located at the North end of the Sunshine Coast, dmd serves a variety of accounting, tax and assurance clients in the region.

We are looking for candidates interested in relocating to Powell River to work in a full-time, permanent accountant role. This position is flexible to fit an accounting technician or a CPA articling student. We would like to hear from you in a cover letter by identifying what role interests you and what your goals are.

Duties and Responsibilities

The accountant role prepares client files and documents, reconciles these to client information, and manages client contact for the work performed.

File preparation includes compilations, financial statement preparation and tax return only engagements. CPA articling students will also work on review and audit files.
Document preparation includes tax returns for corporations, individuals, charities and trusts.
Additional document preparation includes GST and PST forms, logging tax returns and tax information slips.
Accountants will work directly with clients to manage receipt of documents and deadlines and assist them with their accounting needs.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals who have completed, or are close to completing, their accounting education and want diverse and challenging work. Preferred qualifications are:

A university or equivalent degree in accounting or finance.
Previous experience in tax preparation and compilation engagements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and be able to adapt quickly to changes in technology.
Experience with Sage, CaseWare and Tax-Cycle.
A successful candidate that will be able to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
An individual with very high attention to detail and the ability to self-review.
